  • Larry David Norman (April 8, 1947 – February 24, 2008)

Larry, you gave me choices in music when I was beginning to think I had none. You changed the music world for me and my kids. I am glad that you are with the Author of all true art. We will miss you on this planet, though.
(I posted a recent and sweet acoustic blues set with Larry on my Facebook.)

  • Although I quickly moved on to more “pop”-like music such as Keith Green, I do remember Larry Norman from when I was a young Christian. That long blond hair, playing rock music for J-J-Jesus? Unheard of, at least by me. Perhaps I didn’t have to listen to all the fundamentalist wackos I initially met who were smashing all their record albums because they were “demonic.”  :)

Ahh, back when being a Christian was somehow easier and more black-and-white…. He will be missed.

  • I remember sitting in my bedroom with a silk print shirt on, flaired jeans, and long puffy hair listening to a Queen song when my Dad knocked on my door and handed me Larry Norman’s “album.”  My life would never be the same.  I watched the video (thank you very much,) with my daughters.  Although they have no idea how unique his music was at the time, it is still very great today.

They also now know where some of the strange music I sing around the house came from.  Red asked me not to grow my hair out like that.
