www.pandora.com
I found this amazing place for free music—www.pandora.com. I found it by mistake while I was searching the web for images of my new pandora guitar toy.
This pandora is totally different; it is a personalized radio station with no commercials. When you go there, it asks you to type in a band or two that you like. Then, it puts together a play list that is of the same “sound,” not necessarily by the genre labels that the mainstream radio foists on listeners. You’ll hear some songs from the bands that you typed in, but you’ll also hear other music like it.
Then, you sit back and listen via your computer while you do your surfing, chatting, or doing chores. If you hear a song you don’t like, you can mark it. It is my understanding that pandora learns from this and hones your play list more. I created more than one “radio station” and was pleased with the picks that pandora.com made. I’m thinking with this and satellite radio, traditional stations are a threatened species. (But, wait, where will I get my morning zoo humor, hot mamas’ contests, and locally made commercials?! *piggy snort*)
The site is run by the Music Genome Project and can play other people’s music because they pay a radio license. Because of that kind of license, they can put together a play list based on your likes and dislikes, but they can’t play a specific song or album on request.
You can also try out stations that other people have created. They list the top 20 stations. I tried a Bob Dylan station that I enjoyed.
It is free
, although after you listen for 20 minutes or so they ask you to sign up. No biggie—it is also free and only requires an e-mail address, no personal stats or mailing addresses. If you try it out, let me know what you think of it!

lovely new look for the site, Lynne- very peaceful and spacious feeling.
I am now a calypso fan. They play a whole lot of that in South Florida. I may come home with dreds and a steel drum. I will look on Pandora for some.
I used to do this through yahoo but there was a charge and I didn’t use it enough to make it worthwhile. Will have to check this out!!
So, Lynard, am I posting this to your Xanga site correctly? I never know where what I type is going to show up.
I’m presently listening to Springsteen’s “Drive All Night” on pandora.com because, well, Lynard, you pointed me to still another distraction in my busy life. And now that I’m a whole year older, like, I really need the distraction. So this song, as Drew can testify, reminds me of my junior-year dating scene at college.
You got/you got my love/etc.
Heart and soul
Heart and soul (raspy voice)…

i am swinging in an anti-sound distraction to reset my direction

no your French is not that bad- my memory is, even when the words are set in type!!! je suis desolee’ , ma belle dame.
Hey, watch yer language.
I picked up your comment to me on Dave’s site.
I did end up taking all the classes in IP law (not patent stuff) that CWRU had available, and while it’s not a big chunk of what I’m doing now, we’ve done some recent projects with film scripts and that type of thing. If you ever need any help, feel free to give me a call. Often with smaller clients we work out deals on the fees and would certainly be able to give an estimate before we did any work. On the last copyright issue I worked on, it was just a couple hours of research (law clerks are cheaper than me) and some filing fees, so less than five hundred bucks. I don’t have your email addy, but my work address is ean@mccarthylebit.com
Love ya!
I love Pandora
