  • Friends’ Feast

This was dinner at my house after Friendship Day at Covenant Fellowship. Butlers are on the left. They brought yummy stuff. My boys flank buddy Joey. Kate is sitting beside my sister’s daughter, Christiana. The guest of honor is our new friend Bowen, whose cider glass is raised, seated to my left.

I’m so proud of myself for figuring out how to open a Flickr account and use the image on my xanga that I am not even going to risk losing it by fixing the odd margins and awkward wrap that I have created here. Forgive me, aesthetically inclined dear ones.

By the way, I started Eats, Shoots and Leaves last spring and put it down for some dim-witted reason. It is quite a belly laugh for a book on, ta-da, punctuation. If you don’t understand why a book on punctuation is so titled, then you won’t understand the panda bears on the front cover either—until you read the dust cover (or in my house, the dusty cover).

  • With 8 trees in our yard that are all taller than our 3 story house, I do leaves the high-tech way. . . I mow them (riding mower, that is), over and over, and try to get them to all go around the raspberries. I, naturally, am not as good as my husband at it (he does everything so perfectly!), but, alas, he is not home during sunlight hours.

I recognize that table, good food and good fellowship!

I need to read that book. The grammar books that we used for the kid’s school were excellent and pointed out all those punctuation errors that are so common and can be sooo funny!

    Laters, Kathy

  • That is drop-dead gorgeous! Wow! Where’s Drew? So many smiles…
I want to read Eats, Shoots and Leaves just for the craic of it. The cover cracks me up every time.
I’m good with punctuation; I only had it drilled into me for decades by Mum!
Time to go rattle my mailbox… take care rare one!

  • oh, thank you muchly for your great critique/review! i’m so glad you read and enjoyed it. your comment was very constructive; i thought it was even better coming right after Levi’s. :)
you are quite right about the hackneyed line, but it fit my just-built structure and provided the image i wanted in that gap.
it was pretty dim, but it seems to successfully communicate the mood/message i intended.
do you write poetry yourself? there are so many RPs who do, or write fiction, and then hide it away…it’s not just those of my generation. i think it should be encouraged and shared more…but i’ll not rant at you. just asking…
take care, i’m off on break!

  • Thanks for the great question! And how is “Eats, Shoots….”? I’ve been meaning to pick it up for the longest time, but keep forgetting. I hear it’s pretty funny and helpful. I’m sure I could stand to read it.
