I haven’t posted for a while. Sorry. I’ve been busy trying to adjust to my freelance coaching on WriteatHome.net. I have 18 students this semester, in addition to my work at Crown & Covenant. It is very rewarding, though. I like to see the talent and gifts that are being honed in the current high school generation. I love teenagers.
I’m reading the Know-It-All slowly. You can read it that way, because it is formatted based on the entries in the Encyclopedia Britannica. You can take the alphabet very slowly, if you wish. Jacobs is silly at times. His quest for knowledge and his self-deprecating humor can make me laugh until my diaphram is sore. For those of you who don’t know, Jacobs is writing this book as he reads through the unabridged Encyclopedia Britannica. He is especially interested in expanding his intellect, joining Mensa (funny story!), and entering competitively the TV show Jeopardy competition. Sometimes I read his entries to Drew at night before we turn off the light. He is amused, too, although sometimes he acts like he just wants the light dimmed.
Regardless, we are both learning little histories and hysterics from the riduculous to the sublime.
